iPad is taking off – Literally!
I just read on Engadet.com, that Australian low-cost airline, Jetsar, will be trialling the iPad as the preferred source of in-flight entertainment. What will this do for product branding for Apple.
Available for AUD$10 and on flights longer than 90mins, passengers can rent anĀ iPad for the duration of the flight. Each iPad is pre-loaded with movies, TV programs, books, games, music, and music videos, so passengers are going to have an excellent choice of entertainment. One advantage of this method of delivery with programming is the in-flight system crashing mid-movie and having to reset the entire service. One can only imagine that each iPad will be uniquely fitted or modified to portray as property of Jetstar.
During the trial, Jetstar is equipping some domestic aircraft with 30 iPads to gauge passenger interest and demand. Data collected will be evaluated to see if the airline wants to roll this out fleet-wide later this year.
This also adds to the thought of what are other little treats companies and organisations willing to do in order to persuade people to experience their product.
